Private NC Concealed Carry Handgun Permit training designed for real estate professionals.
Real estate professionals often work alone, meet new people daily, and spend time in unfamiliar properties and neighborhoods. While many Realtors never experience a safety incident, situational awareness, education, and preparedness are important components of professional risk management.
Raleigh Gun Coach offers a private Concealed Carry Handgun Permit (CCHP) course tailored specifically for real estate professionals, delivered in a calm, low-pressure environment that prioritizes understanding the law, safe handling, and responsible decision-making.
This training is focused on education and clarity, not tactics or theatrics.
Why This Training Makes Sense for Realtors
Realtors operate in a unique professional environment that may include:
- Meeting clients they do not yet know
- Entering vacant or unfamiliar properties
- Working irregular hours
- Traveling between locations alone
- Maintaining a professional image at all times
This course is not about fear. It is about understanding lawful options, professional boundaries, and personal responsibility, even for those who may ultimately choose not to carry.
Many Realtors complete this training simply to gain a clearer understanding of North Carolina law and personal safety considerations relevant to their profession.
Private, Professional Format
All Realtor-focused CCHP courses are conducted in a private group format, allowing participants to ask questions openly and learn without the pressure of a large classroom.
The course includes:
- Classroom instruction (in-home or small private setting)
- Written examination
- Live-fire qualification conducted at a private outdoor range
Training is completed in one full day or split into two half-day sessions and scheduled by appointment to accommodate busy professional schedules.
Realtor-Focused Curriculum Additions
While meeting all North Carolina CCHP requirements, the standard curriculum is rebalanced to allow approximately 45–60 minutes of Realtor-specific instruction.
These additional topics are not typically covered in standard permit classes and are included to better reflect the realities of professional real estate work.
Realtor-specific topics include:
- Situational awareness during showings and open houses
- Professional boundary setting and client considerations
- Carry and storage considerations while working
- Legal responsibilities in professional environments
- Use-of-force decision-making from a professional standpoint
- Overview of non-lethal personal safety options and considerations
- Risk reduction strategies that do not involve force
Non-lethal options are discussed from an educational and awareness standpoint. Raleigh Gun Coach does not sell or provide non-lethal equipment as part of this course.
No Firearm Experience Required
No prior firearm experience is required, and participants do not need to own a firearm to take this course.
Training firearms, ammunition, and required safety equipment can be provided as needed. This makes the course accessible to Realtors who want education and understanding without committing to firearm ownership.
Participation in this course does not require an intent to carry. Many professionals complete the training solely to better understand the law, safety considerations, and available options.
What the Course Covers
The course covers all state-required CCHP material, with additional time allocated for Realtor-specific considerations, including:
- North Carolina concealed carry laws (common and statutory)
- Where carry is legally prohibited
- Safe handling and storage
- Revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
- Ammunition basics
- Marksmanship fundamentals
- Concealed carry principles
- Basic cleaning and maintenance
- Legal responsibilities and decision-making
Professional Responsibility & Discretion
Realtors are held to professional and ethical standards that extend beyond personal life. This training emphasizes discretion, judgment, and lawful decision-making within a professional context.
The goal is not to encourage carrying, but to ensure that those who choose to pursue a permit understand:
- Their legal responsibilities
- How professional conduct and personal decisions intersect
- When not carrying may be the appropriate choice
This course is designed to support informed decision-making, not prescribe behavior.
Group & Brokerage Options
This course works well for:
- Individual Realtors
- Small teams
- Brokerages offering optional professional development
- Couples or partners working in real estate
Private group pricing starts at $400 for up to four participants, with additional participants priced at $50 per person.
Brokerages interested in offering this training as an optional professional development opportunity are welcome to reach out to discuss private group scheduling.
