Private live fire coaching is designed for individuals and small groups who want focused, adaptable firearms training without the pressure of a crowded range or a preset curriculum.
Training is tailored to the student rather than a rigid program. Sessions emphasize safe handling, solid fundamentals, and purposeful practice, whether you are new to live fire or looking to refine existing skills.
Who This Training Is For
Private live fire instruction is well suited for:
- New shooters looking for a calm, structured introduction to live fire
- Experienced shooters seeking refinement, consistency, or feedback
- Returning shooters rebuilding fundamentals after time away
- Individuals or small groups who prefer private, personalized instruction
No matter your starting point, training is adjusted to meet you where you are.
Training Environment
All live fire instruction is conducted at a private outdoor range in Youngsville, just north of Wake Forest. The range includes a 25-yard zeroing area and steel targets for both pistol and rifle training.
Because the range is private, sessions can be paced to the student. When appropriate, firing can be paused to allow for clear discussion, demonstration, and questions without background noise or time pressure. This flexibility allows training to remain focused and intentional.
As an outdoor range, students should plan to dress appropriately for the season. The range offers substantial shade from surrounding trees, though ground conditions may be damp after periods of rain.
Firearms & Equipment
Firearm ownership is not required for private live fire instruction.
A selection of training firearms and ammunition can be provided as needed, allowing students to focus on learning without needing to purchase any equipment in advance. This is well suited for new shooters, returning shooters, or anyone who wants to try different platforms before committing to ownership.
Available training firearms may include common pistol and rifle platforms such as Glock handguns and AR- or AK-pattern rifles. Specific options can be discussed in advance based on training goals and availability.
All required safety equipment, including eye and ear protection, can also be provided. Students who already own firearms or safety equipment are welcome to use their own gear if preferred.
The focus remains on safe handling, understanding, and skill development rather than equipment acquisition.
What a Session Looks Like
Each session is 45-60 minutes long and begins with a brief discussion to establish goals and review safety considerations. Training then moves into dryfire and live fire work based on the student’s experience level and objectives.
Instruction focuses on fundamentals, observation, and feedback rather than volume or speed. Sessions are adjusted in real time, allowing time to slow down, revisit concepts, or shift focus as needed.
Training concludes with a short wrap-up to review progress and discuss next steps for continued practice.
Teaching Philosophy
Effective training is built on consistency and understanding, not rushing or performance pressure. Emphasis is placed on strong fundamentals, safe habits, and helping students understand how to continue training on their own between sessions.
The goal is not only to improve performance during the lesson, but to provide clarity and direction that carries forward.
