Intro
I’m going to try to keep this short. I’ve tried a lot of different ear protection in different environments. And I’ll be the first to admit that due to circumstances outside of my control, my hearing kind of sucks. haha But here are my favorite ways to protect the hearing I have left. As you will see I clearly trust Walker’s as a brand/manufacturer. I have no affiliation with Walkers, but I am an Amazon affiliate so I have provided affiliate links. That being said, feel free to support your local gun shop by buying these products there.
I highly recommend doubling up with in-ear and over ear pro. I know people who were using only over ear pro and their seal broke and they suffered hearing loss and tinnitus. So take this seriously.
Safariland Pro Impulse In-Ear
The Safariland Pro Impulse In-Ear protection is both my go to and my catch all. I have multiple pairs of these. When it comes to silicone/rubber in ear pro you need to ensure you get a good fit, else they can’t do their job. The set offers 1 pair of large & 1 pair of small. The large fit me perfectly! I can wear these things for hours, not have a single problem and be super comfortable. I also prefer in-ear when I’m shooting rifle.
These are still a great option for those of you who would like to double up and run in-ear combined with over ear protection.
Walker’s Razor Slim Low Profile
Walker’s Razor Pro have been around for years and are the most popular electronic ear pro on the market. This ear pro can simultaneously make quiet sounds loud and loud sounds quiet. It can feel a bit weird and creepy to put these on at the house and walk around but I recommend doing it. It’s interesting how loud your steps are and how you will hear things you’ve never heard in your home before. But I digress…
Walker’s Razor Walkie Talkie
The name “Walkie Talkie” is perhaps to funniest name ever given to a piece of military equipment. But lets focus and power through this… The Walker’s Razor Walkie Talkie attachment is awesome! It lets you communicate easily while on the range. It has a push to talk feature as well as a voice activated feature. I try to use this as much as I can when I’m teaching. But, I find it works better on an individual basis because I’d rather just yell at groups of people.
Gel Ear Pads for Walker’s Razor
I ABSOLUTELY recommend the PROHEAR gel ear pads for the Walker’s Razor ear pro. For me it was a total game changer. With the factory ear pads I thought they worked fine but I didn’t really like wearing them for extended periods of time. With the gel ear pads, they work extremely well and are super comfortable. I cannot recommend this upgrade enough.
Walker’s Silencer BT In-Ear
The Walker’s Silencer BT 2.0 ear pro are my newest pair that I’m still testing. They show promise but the jury is still out. I need to get a bunch of hours with these before I will say they are good to go.
Summary
These are my go to, most highly recommended ear pro options. Again, I’ve provided links to amazon, they often run sales so if you think they’re a bit expensive, give it a week and try back. But IMO, you can’t go wrong with these options. If you have questions/comments/concerns please reach out!
