Range Bags

I’ve gotten several questions about range bags lately, what goes in, what to look for in a bag, where to get one, which one should I get, so here’s a short list of what to look for, gear you should have in it and a couple of suggestions for good bags. Just know that a range bag isn’t really a 1 product fits all thing and the loadout for your bag may vary depending on what you’re shooting or where you’re shooting. But all the bags I’ve recommended below should be a great starting point for you.

What you need from a range bag:

  • Durable materials
  • Strong stitching
  • Quality zippers
  • Enough space
  • Shoulder strap
  • Sections / compartments

What you need in your range bag:

  • Firearm
  • Extra mags
  • Ammo
  • Eye pro
  • Ear pro
  • Multi-tool
  • Cleaning kit / lubricant
  • Stapler / tape
  • targets / dots

VOODOO TACTICAL Rhino Range Bag

Quality First Purchase (Amazon)

I really like Voodoo products, I’ve had really good experiences with their gear. I find the design & build quality of their products to be top tier. This bag comes in black, coyote and OD. The prices flux from $80-$90 on Amazon which is a really good price point. Other sites like opticsplanet has them listed for about $120 and the Voodoo website is listing them at $136. So if you’re looking for a quality bag here you go!

Nc Star Competition Range Bag

Value First Purchase (Amazon)

You usually either get what you pay for, or you get less than what you pay for. But if you shop around enough you can get more than what you pay for and that’s what the Nc Star Comp Range Bag offers, an excellent value. For about $35 you can get everything you need in a range bag, it’s just not as Tacti-cool as premium brands and may not hold up as well during extreme use, but for 95% of us, it’s more than we need.

Fieldline Pro Series Deluxe Range Bag

Value First Purchase (Walmart)

This pick goes out to all of you who don’t use Amazon but there’s a Walmart nearby. Fieldline Pro products are surprisingly good quality. This is anecdotal but I’ve used one of their range bags for a couple years and it held up better than expected. Eventually the stitching began to fail but I often overloaded it. It by far out performed its $40 price tag so I don’t mind recommending it for you.
